It’s so impressive that some people can’t believe it’s real. Imagine a game that brings together the exciting elements of modern Assassin’s Creed, Red Dead Redemption 2, The Witcher 3, Zelda, and Elden Ring. Well, that’s exactly what Crimson Desert seems to have achieved at least according to the new trailer. This has left some people wondering if it’s actually possible for a game to be this good.
The creators of the MMO Black Desert and Pearl Abyss revealed a gameplay trailer for Crimson Desert during Gamescom Opening Night Live.
The South Korean game developer hasn’t said much about this single-player open-world adventure since 2021. Back then, they mentioned that they needed more time to come up with new ideas. But from watching the trailer, it seems like Pearl Abyss has managed to include all sorts of new and exciting ideas.
At first, the trailer reminds us a bit of Elden Ring with a touch of Chivalry 2 (except for the arm wrestling part). Then it turns into something like Assassin’s Creed or Witcher. We see our hero exploring a breathtaking open world on horseback. There are quests posted on notice boards including one where he seems to be rescuing sheep. He even buys things from merchants goes fishing, plays the flute, takes over carts in a GTA-style, pets animals, and much more.
And that’s not all! Pearl Abyss has gone beyond what you’d expect from an adventure game. They’ve added features like traveling in a hot-air balloon, solving puzzles, following mystical paths, climbing, taming and even drifting with horses, pole vaulting, flying and gliding, huge explosions, skydiving, quick-time events (QTEs), and even something that looks like an Ent from Lord of the Rings.
The whole thing is mind-blowing almost too amazing to believe for some critics. They’re unsure if the final version of the game will actually be as good as what’s shown in the trailer considering the ambitious plans of Pearl Abyss. But if the game turns out to be anything like what’s in the trailer it could be a huge success.
Crimson Desert is planned to be released on both PC and consoles at the same time. We don’t have an official launch date since it got delayed from its initial 2021 release window. However, it looks like Pearl Abyss is aiming to release the game sometime next year.
In other news from Gamescom, the PC requirements for Forza Motorsport were revealed. If you own an RTX 4080 (16GB) graphics card so you’re in luck as it’s considered the “ideal” GPU for the game.
